a temple trip and some grandparent time

In November we made our 2013 goal of attending the temple quarterly!
It's amazing how much of a conscious effort it has taken to achieve that goal.
We've definitely been blessed as we've made the effort, though. Although it would be nice to attend sessions together, it is also a great experience (in kind of a tiring way) to bring Jaden to the temple and spend time one on one with him explaining why we're there and why temples are so special. The DC temple visitors center was recently remodeled and all those interactive touch screens can easily keep Jaden entertained for hours :).

We were on a tight schedule that day. The reason we decided to go to the temple that particular Saturday was because we needed to make the drive out to Baltimore to pick up my mom. She and my dad had found last minute tickets for $250 a person. That's kind of a big deal-one you don't want to pass up on when it comes around :). So she came out for a week and my dad flew out a few days after her. It turned out that Steve had to go out of town for work and was gone pretty much the whole time they were here. That kind of stunk, but it was nice to have people to hang out with instead of being by myself for the week. I felt like the worst host ever because I was swamped with preparation for a responsibility for my church calling that week. I was grateful to have the help with Jaden and my house while my life was out of balance for a week :). We didn't do anything too exciting (it's challenging to find entertaining things for tourists around here in the winter), but we had a relaxing and (hopefully for them) good time. My mom vacuumed my car one day...I'm not quite sure what to think about that? She must have been SUPER bored with me... :). Jaden had the time of his life playing Cars Bingo and doing puzzles on Grandma's iPad. Grandparents have the coolest toys!
