evaluations part 1/3

okay i give up.

i need to write about prego-ness.
because that's pretty much what my life is centered around these days.

but i just want to make it CLEAR that i'm not trying to complain to cyberspace!

really.

i think talking about being prego usually seems like complaining.
why is that?

anyway, here's what i've been thinking.

now that my first trimester is finally and gratefully over,
i can evaluate it.

but instead of giving it a grade or score,
since i have nothing to compare it to,
i'll just make a list of things i will and won't do in the first trimester the next time around...
...yeah right...

let's start with WON'T:

WON'T schedule and pack for a cross country move
WON'T drive across the country at 10 weeks
WON'T throw up in the car ever again
WON'T fly on 21 airplanes in the first two months
(the up and down change in altitude and pressure is the worst--don't do layovers)
WON'T throw up a PB&J in the Charlotte airport ever again
WON'T tell my parents right after my brother leaves for the MTC
(sorry again about the emotional overload, mom :) but i had no choice)
WON'T feel guilty about needing certain foods at random times
(like crackers...and crackers...and crackers...)
and hating certain foods at random times
(like crackers...and crackers...and crackers...)
WON'T complain about everything weird going on with my body...WON'T...
WON'T bug the husband about baby names every time there's a lull in conversation
...

now for WILL:

WILL expect to drink 2-3 gallons of milk a week
(milk is $4 a gallon out here...it's really throwing off our grocery budget)
WILL start taking vitamins at night right from the very beginning
WILL keep up a regular exercise schedule even if i feel gross
(not going on 21 planes to crazy places should help that as well)
WILL continue to cry in order to cover up feeling mad or any other unpleasant random emotion
(it's a more positive outlet toward the husband than getting upset and taking it out on him for no reason)
WILL stock lots of graham crackers
WILL probably continue to want a certain food until it's actually in front of me and then think it looks disgusting
WILL be scared to death of miscarriage probabilities and WILL probably continue to have a hard time getting too attached to the nugget until several weeks in
(unfortunately)
WILL be grateful for the sickness because it's so worth it
WILL take more prego progress pictures...well, maybe not :)
WILL be happy in every stage of pregnancy
WILL continue to have a weekly celebration every tuesday (or whatever day it is) to commemorate the survival of another week
...

it's actually been a couple weeks since i've gotten out of the first and not so fun trimester,
so i can't remember everything,
but maybe that's not such a bad thing. :)

i really am enjoying this phase of life.
i'd be lying if i said i enjoyed it from week 6ish-11ish,
because i definitely didn't,
but overall i really haven't had it too bad.

i keep seeing cute babies and think to myself
"they're worth it, you can do this..."
and i'm just trying to remember that this won't seem like a big and hard sacrifice once junior is actually here.

so that's all, folks.

(almost) all my prego thoughts from weeks 4 to 14.

if you made it through to the end of this incredibly long post,
thanks for listening. :)
